DMB – Lillywhite Session
Posted: September 6th, 2006 | Author: Greg Gigon | Filed under: music-a | No Comments »Behind mysterious abbreviation that is DMB stands band name. Dave Matthews Band. It is one of my favourite band. I think it stands next to Pearl Jam in my personal hall of glory.
It’s hard to describe and categorise DMB music. It is incredibly melodically, has rock elements and a lot of jazz. All the musicians are professionals; some of them were playing before in Jazz bands. Final effect is incredible. Mixture of South African rhythms, jazz improvisation, pop and rock melody. Sometimes music tends to be hard but you can’t rocky but at the other hand you can’t hear typical heavy guitars, bass and drums.
It’s very powerful and always packed with positive vibration. I highly recommend to get YOUR hands on any album. It doesn’t matter if that’s live or studio album. As a matter of fact DMB started as live band, and they recorded they first album after view years of concerting.
It happened that I get my hands on new (for me) album from DMB. “Lilywhite Session” is studio album recorded in year 2000 that was never released. I don’t know how did it get out and see day light. I have to admit that this album is truly great.
Music is very delicate and reminds of a calm sea with little waves. There are 12 tracks that as always have great lyrics. Although it’s DMB, this album represents a little bit different style. Slightly more last studio album that was released, “Stand up”.
I really recommend this album. I can’t put it on web and it’s impossible to get it from shop, but I’m aware that you all know many ways of getting what you want from internet.
