Pandora’s Box
I gotto share with this, because this is one of the most coolest web projects ever made for music lovers. Imagine music stream from internet, for free, just like internet radio station, but … Well, this but makes a lot of difference. Ladies and Gentleman, I present you Pandora. Your own personal radio station that chooses music for you based on your preferences and your recommendation.
So how does it work? At first you need to provide Pandora interface with name of an artist you really like. Then pandora chooses some songs that are similar in style to your original artist. Then you can add more artists, bands, songs etc. to create even wider selection. That is first part of fun. Then you can rate every song if you like it or you think it’s rubish. You can also select options like “Naaa, don’t play this song for next week”
All selections are collected into one radio station that you can share with other people. You can Pause songs and Skip them (license only allows certain amount of “Skips” per hour session unfortunately). You can’t search through the song, only play it from beginning to the end.
There are small negatives to this project:
- Only people from US can register (well, I cheated a little bit and for this site I live in Pizza place somewhere in New York).
- Can’t skip to many songs (already mentioned).
- No free standalone player, you need to use web browser (this actually might be a plus).
- Adds, at least that what FAQ of an service says, but only adds I’ve seen during my 8 hours of listening were adds of Pandora itself
If you’d like to look around address is http://www.pandora.com . And if you’d like to listen to my radio station you can do this at this address: gigoo’s Tunes . I have just started with selections. This station is playing only Rock.
You are going to love it
Cheers, Gregister ![]()
