SnapShot
Today my post will be about an extra cool feature that I have found on some else’s blog. This thing is so Cool that I had to use it on my blog as well. So, as title of this post says the name of that thing is Snap. Snap is a web search engine. I know what you will say, just another Google like thing, but it is not.
www.snap.com displays search result in two panels. On a left side you will see normal search results as you can usually get from Google but on right hand side they display snapshots (pictures) of page that you will get when you click search result on left panel. This is really cool. When I’m looking for web pages that I have visited before I don’t have to wait for it to load and then go back to results and open another one. I can just look at these snaps and see if that was what I was looking for. Now, that is only a half of a story.
Another service that they offer (and this is the cool part that I’m using on my blog) is having popup bubbles on any link on your web page with little SnapShots of page that this links are linking into. All you have to do is hover with your mouse pointer over link and leave it for half second. Just do this in here, move your mouse in here. Cool, isn’t it?
I think this is actually very useful. I don’t have to browse through pages that I have already visited but I don’t remember what’s link into. Also, I have immediate preview of how the page that link leads to look like. If there’s plenty of links, page attractiveness can be crucial when I will make decision about what page I would like to visit.
To add SnapShots to your page all you have to do is customize your SnapShot bubble and put a line of JavaScript into your web page.
Anyway, it’s cool stuff
Check it out, Gregi
Ps. On my blog SnapShots are working only for external links.
