Some of you might probably heard about del.icio.us project. I heard about it months ago from Cleve. I wasn’t using it though because I didn’t feel like I wanted to. But few days ago, while reading a post on web page I thought … damn, that’s a good article, I need to bookmark it. One might ask, what the heck del.icio.us has to do with that story. Well ….
… It all boils down to this. What is this del.icio.us. It’s a service where you can store your web bookmarks, share them with others, and take a sneak peak at what other people that have bookmarked this article have already booked.
In one word: IT’S WEB BOOKMARK SERVICE.
Idea is simple, you bookmark web page, create tags for it. Tag is just a simple word that describes your bookmark. One bookmark might have multiple tags. When it’s bookmarked you can find it later on by typing in search box one of tags that you have gave it at beginning. Very useful when number of bookmarks is growing fast.
You can share your bookmarks with others. When you finish registration process others can see what you have booked and read it. So, for example, my bookmarks might be fins in here: http://del.icio.us/gigu. So, here you go, if someone has similar interests to me, they can check out some of my bookmarks and might read bookmarked pages. Internet is all about sharing, isn’t it
You can select bookmarks that you don’t want for others to being seen as well.
You can also look at bookmark summary and see that this article was also saved by some other people. You can look at their links and find something interesting for you.
At the end I’m leaving the best. You have all your bookmarks organized and in one easy accessible place. There is no problem with reading article from another computer. I find this service very handy. Maybe it will be useful for YOU as well
Try it.
All best people, Gregowitch
